I have been thinking a lot about this blog and what I have to offer you all as readers. The original idea for this blog was to bring you all along with me on my journey as an author. I have always considered myself a writer even though only a few of my writings have been shared with others. But now as I have recently published a novel I have been working on for so long, I can officially say I am an author! Yay! 🙂
I have many other interests though besides writing that also make me who I am today. I think it is important to includes these interests in my blog as well. This way you will be able to get to know me as a person as well as an author.
For example, my partner and I live in an old farm house that is in constant repair or update and I enjoy doing the renovations myself (when possible).
We are also expecting a little girl in September, which means we have been renovating the nursery for her. I have taken on this challenge and will certainly be sharing my progress with you.
One day however, I would very much like to be a part of building a straw bale home for my family. A structure like the straw bale house has so many benefit, and I think it would be really neat to leave such a significant imprint on a greener society. More on that later.
Also, I absolutely love to read non fiction books. My brain always has a thirst for learning a new skill. Therefore my need to learn and my need to renovate go hand in hand. DIY books are certainly of interest these days. My favourite non fiction book of all time is called The Self Sufficient Life, and How to Live it written by John Seymour. It is a beautiful in-depth tutorial on how to homestead with little waste. I would recommend this book to everyone. This book is especially helpful to myself and my partner as we own 13 acres of land. I plan to use this land to make as many of my homesteading dreams as possible come true.
Well that’s it for now. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for my next blog!
